Independent Travel Assistance for American Airlines Passengers

Whether your trip is domestic or transatlantic, our travel team handles American Airlines booking changes, cancellations and rebooking on your behalf.

MyFlightsAssist is independent from American Airlines. MyFlightsAssist is an independent travel agency. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any airline.

What we can help with

Flight changes and date moves

We check your specific fare's rules first, then handle the change — date, routing or both.

Cancellations

Eligibility for a refund or travel credit depends on the fare you purchased. We check before you cancel.

Rebooking after disruptions

American's hub network — particularly Dallas Fort Worth — means most rebooking options route through one of several large connecting airports.

Name corrections and group travel

We fix name mismatches before they reach the check-in counter, and coordinate changes across group bookings.

Traveling with American Airlines

American Airlines is the world's largest airline by scheduled passengers, operating through a hub network anchored at Dallas Fort Worth, with additional hubs at Charlotte, Chicago O'Hare, Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix, New York JFK and Los Angeles. For summer 2026, American planned more than 500 daily departures from Chicago alone, with a network connecting to more than 180 destinations from that hub.

American is a founding member of the oneworld alliance, which connects its network to British Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific and other partners. Its long-haul premium cabin is marketed as Flagship Business on international widebody routes, and Flagship First on selected services.

American's network and routes

Dallas Fort Worth is American's largest hub, and many domestic and international itineraries connect through it. The airline runs strong service from DFW to the US coasts, major US metros and international destinations across Europe, Latin America and beyond. Charlotte plays a similar role on the East Coast.

For 2026, American launched new international routes including Dallas to Athens and Dallas to Zurich, along with Philadelphia to Budapest and Philadelphia to Prague. From Chicago O'Hare, the airline is rebuilding its international schedule, though the Tokyo Narita route from ORD is planned for 2027 rather than 2026.

Route information reflects the published network for American Airlines as of September 2026 and can change; check the airline directly for current schedules.

How MyFlightsAssist can help

American's fare rules vary considerably across its ticket types, so we check your specific booking rather than applying a general policy assumption. We handle the change or cancellation once we know what's actually allowed, and confirm everything in writing before you travel.

Any fare, fee or penalty set by American Airlines is separate from our own professional service fee. See our Service Fees page for details.
